Marketing & Communications Manager 

20 hours/week 

$22-$26/hr

Location: Hybrid - Remote & Onsite as required in Winnipeg (and occasionally at various other cities / townships in Manitoba )

Hours: Average 20 hours/week, with potential for increased hours (including weekends and evenings) during busy event times.

Job Description:

We are seeking a Marketing and Communications Manager to join our team immediately. This role is ideal for a strategic and creative thinker with a passion for storytelling, social media, and event promotion. You will manage marketing and communications for Fête Jockey and our clients. This includes liaising with media, writing compelling copy (for media releases, websites, social media, and client communication), managing photography and videography assets, and promoting Fête Jockey to potential clients. Additionally, you will assist in developing and executing media and marketing plans, and have the opportunity to use graphic design, photography and videography skills. Additionally, general event/project management, planning and support is required throughout the year. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and create content for social media accounts for Fête Jockey and clients, including scheduling and engagement.

  • Liaise with media to secure coverage and build relationships.

  • Write engaging media releases, website copy, and social media content.

  • Promote Fête Jockey to potential clients through various marketing strategies.

  • Develop media and marketing plans to enhance brand and event visibility and engagement.

  • Utilize graphic design, photography, and videography skills to create marketing materials (an asset, but not required).

  • Provide onsite media relations and social media management during events.

  • Assist with event planning, management, setup and support as needed.

  • Is a strong communicator with both verbal and written skills.

  • Is a team player! Thrives working in a collaborative environment, and also able to take initiative, manage tasks, create and follow personal work plan.

  • Has experience in:

    • Social media management and content creation for Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and knowledge of best practices on various platforms.

    • Writing for media releases, donor letters, proposals, and scripts.

    • Photography, videography and graphic design.

    • Working with tools like Google Docs/Sheets, Canva, Squarespace, and Clockshark (or similar programs).

  • Has continuous access to a reliable personal computer, network connection, and cell phone. Personal computer/phone may be provided if required. 

  • Holds a valid driver’s license.

Working Conditions:

  • Must live in Winnipeg or be within a commutable distance.

  • Hybrid work arrangement: remote and onsite.

  • Average 20-25 hours/week with a flexible schedule, including a minimum of 2-3 days a week in-person with the core team (usually Mondays, Tuesday and Thursdays). Hours are to be worked between 9am-5pm Monday-Friday. Additional hours may be required during events at various locations both indoors and outdoors across Manitoba.

  • Required to sit, talk, hear, see, occasionally stand, walk, and carry documents and supplies up to 50lbs.

Pay Rate: $22-$26 per hour paid bi-weekly, healthy benefit package available after probationary period.
